The only way is to scan the sector before entering it and hope the scan sees them.

And nope, if you die with a fed only bounty on you it is not removed. So getting a bounty and then killing yourself with mines won't remove the bounty.

Sounds like some fun, go into a lower players main sector, load it up with your own mines, and wait for the player to either leave and come back or else he will just be stuck in that sector until the player finds a way to eliminate the mines. Come to think of it you can take out teams the same way, lol.

Well by a stealth and don't bump your hull. Then you have a safe scout ship as hull 0 tends to skate past mines.
