Well the whole point of nameing regular sectors was to eliminate seq searching. Seq searching allows players with lots of time on there hands to run through the entire map and find everyone. In a real universe that is not a possibility. So to create realism we have eliminated it. Now you must explore sections of space, much like you would if you were driving a real ship. While the numbering is a pain to deal with we are trying to make it as easy as possible. You do get used to it over time, most players really like the change, you can actually start the game with a smaller number of sectors without having the fear of knowing a player with tons of time on thier hands may or may not fine your base.

Don't expect it to go away or change, it was a hole in the game and was used to easily find SG, and peoples bases. Not having sector numbers doesn not seem to stop the guys that are good players, they seem to be having the exact same luck they had before.

couldn't i go through the phonebook (granted we've broken our phonebook into regions which would complicate the matter, but the point remains the same), one number at a time and eventually find your number? (unless it's unlisted aka SG)

first off, you could, but you'd have to know his name to be able to find him. second off, in the old system, you could find the SGs easily enough, all you needed was the nav computer. so you can't compare it to an unlisted number, because those are much harder to find...

Well, I can guarantee that we willnever be going back to the old numbering system. It was too easily exploitable. We do not want to see the seq searching to ever come back in any future games. We will not even add a switch in the configuration to allow it to be enabled.

If you want to try and edit everything in the game to go back to numbers when 0.30 is released then more power to you but it will never be something we support.
