Higher percentage for production means it required fewer colonists than normal to produce that commodity, so to maxize efficiency, you can safely lower the population producing that commodity. Planet techs are strong than ship techs by 20 levels. Finally, the different planet pictures have to do with the percentages on the productions.

No, I think thats an ore planet. PJ may have to correct me but its a better ore planet and prob has reduced percentages of everything else.

The color of the planet won't ever change. Just the satellites that surround the planet as the tech goes up.

I believe brown is bad, dark land with water is high ore low organics, cloudy with green land and water is high both, and clear atmosphere, greenish land, and water is high organics and lower ore.
