It all depends on how many players are in the game at any one time. The first server I had running the game was a PIII 650 so a 300 is gonna be a bit slower. THis may still work well however you may need to limit your universe size and the number of players online. Course we haven't had one I'm aware of running it under debian. If you do run under debian you will need to be sure to upgrade your php and mysql versions.
