I just went to my control panel. It looks like they are currently upgrading some of the server software. So there may be a few hickups until they are finished.

It looks like they are expanding some of the monitoring software availible to site owners. :)

All seems OK, now. But from home and work I was unable to access the server and I thought maybe the other players had bribed PJ as I am such a threat to them.

Cheers

Server unavaliable again this morning.
Message id:
Service Temporarily Unavailable
The server is temporarily unable to service your request due to maintenance downtime or capacity problems. Please try again later.

I thought that this code was much easier on the servers. :)

Cheers

Got to work and managed to log in, but lots of service not avaliable requests. I did manage to get back to a 'safe' sector before bailing. :)

Ok, here is what the problem looks like.

Look at the images below.

You will notice that there is very little activity in the game due to the site going down a lot. Look at the times in the activity log. There should be an entry for every 5 minutes but there are large gaps. This is when the scheduler was unable to run due to the server being down.

Now look at the server status page. You will see the CPU load is around 4.47% and memory usage is only 24.8%. This is the total for all 600+ sites on that server including ours.

Now look at what I fear is the REAL culprit.

The root directory on SDA2 is 99% full. I would say the server is dying due to a lack of drive space for the sites and logs. We have seen this happen on our own servers. When the drive is full and the server tries to update the access/error logs for each domain it basically dies while trying to locate any available drive space.

I decided to test it out and uploaded 5 small 1k files. Each time I uploaded the 1k file the server became unavailable for about 30-60 seconds. So I would say they need to clean out space on the server and do it FAST. If they do not have the issue resolved by tomorrow I will be placing a trouble ticket on it and give them all of the information I have put together on the problem.
