beta game is unplayable: 
Oops, we can't open the web page you requested ... - Cannot Find Server - The web site you typed in could not be found on the internet. comes up most of the time and the other problem is while in the game you get kicked out to the 'you must login' prompt. This has been reported to me from other players as well. Main game has just been connection speed issues and I have given up on that game.

Tarnus, the new beta. It has driven me nuts. 
Yes, I too have these hosting problems. I am using mdbhost.com and have been running a .21 game for a few weeks with them and had no issues. I did pick it up on ebay for a gift price, about US$6 per year

After doing some checks their database server is damned slow. It takes almost 300% longer to do the same queries as it does on the main game. The beta is supposed to be on a quad processor server but it sure doesn't act like it. The status is claiming only 3-4% server load when I was doing my testing. Sigh, the other bad thing is they are not runing any optimization software from the looks of it either. 
Quite frankly I am disappointed in them in a big way. |

I also notice that there were some session problems on the beta site due to something on their server. So I have turned on the games session handler and that seems to have stopped the problem. I get this feeling all of the sessions from the 300+ sites on that server are using the same directory for storage and they are trashing each other. It shouldn't happen but so far this companies ability to run decent servers is suspect. At least we will be able to test the built in session handling abilities of the game. |
