Just coming to this game from playing RedNova and straight BNT for the last year - I find it moderatly easy to pick up.

However, somethings are sorely needed to keep new users around. Disclosure of settings that can make or break a person and disclosure of things for convienience would certainly go along way to helping people understand the game.

Some examples are:

Starvation Rate - Why not have a small notation under the Organics production setting as to what the server has set this to (Starve = 15%). Or perhaps change the set variable to a RED font if it is set to below the starvation rate. Organics = 12% (-3%)

Launchable Fighters - Coming from BNT these restrictions weren't in that game but in this game you can't launch more fighters than the level the planet is set to. Too often I have seen players with 80 million fighters on the planet and level 23 fighter tech. Next to the tech level bars disclose the amount of fighters that the level represents: (Launchable = 250,000). Some people who LIVE AND BREATHE AAT can recall what each level equates to a real number its not fair to think that new people know that level 17 = 125,000.

Launchable Torps - Same as the fighters

Beams - Disclose how many beams can be deployed by tech level

Shields - Disclose how many damage points the shields can absorb

Armor - Disclose how many damage points the current tech level of armor can absorb

Trade Screen Disclosure - Show what your ships various levels can hold... Like next to fighters, torps and etc... show the amount the ship can hold.

Dignitary Disclosure - Show this. I have read that it fluxuates but if it is a known variable to the game it can be show on the screen. My main concern about this is for population control. Population control is a MICRO management task (firing Digi's, moving people on and off the planet) with MACRO management tools (no clue what percentage the population actually naturally grows, what the reduction or increaser digi is really doing). Which brings me to the next point....

Population Growth/Shrink Percentage - Show this somewhere. It could be right up there by max credits allowed on the planet.
Growth = +0.0012

Max Population - Show this stat near the "actual" population stat. New people don't want to sit around and work a formula to figure out how many people will fit on the planet before it blows up. If they knew to do that in the first place. Perhaps this could even be something like the current population number turns red at 95% of capacity.
Planet Population = 121,070,981 (95% cap)

Once again the reason for this is to take some of the tribal knowledge out of the game. This will retain new users who think that AAT is just to complex (which I hear all the time from BNT players).

I firmly believe that disclosing these items will grow the AAT user base.

Several of these settings are found in the settings area on the login page.

At the chance of sounding confrontational - None of those values are in settings on the login page.

The only one that comes close is the population growth/shrinkage stat... But on the settings page you only get to see the BASE level of population growth and not what I am asking to be disclosed which the ACTUALLY level of population growth/shinkage.

A team coordinator was kind enough to post this for the team members in the team tourney. Based off the setting of:
Colonists Limit 100,000,000

This should help SOMEWHAT.

... whereas level is average tech level of planetary defenses.

What I'm unsure about are the following:

* Is it an increment of 5% of the base limit (Using the team tourney of 100,000,000 colonists). What I mean is suppose a game admin running his/her game sets it to 50,000,000. Does that make level 1 at 52,500,000 or 55,000,000?

* Can the increments per average tech level be changed by a game admin or would he/she have to re-write the game code to do that?
