Just wanted to give people a heads up about a big change in how credits are stored on planets.

The number of credits you can store on a planet will be keyed to the planets tech levels. The cost to buy a tech level from 0 is used for each of the 7 tech items you can upgrade. To upgrade a planet from 0 to 10 on all seven tech items would be 3.5 million credits.

The amount of money you can have on a planet with everything at tech level 10 is 360 million credits. The formula is Value of Tech Levels * 100 + 10000000 = max credits.

The 100 multiplier is a configuration variable so the admin of the game can adjust this to anything they want.

For an idea on how much you can store here is a list of planets with matching tech levels on every item.

    Level 10 = 360 million
    Level 20 = 350 billion
    Level 30 = 350 trillion
    Level 40 = 350 quadrillion
    Level 50 = 350 quintillion

Once you hit the maximum credits a planet can hold it will stop gaining interest. What this means is players will have to start spending money to upgrade their planets and/or build more planets. Sorry bankers you are going to have to get off your lazy butts and work now. :D

When will this go into effect?

Knowing PJ as soon as he gets it all written. In current games it won't effect any cash you currently have, however the interest rate will just stop making you any money till you upgrade the planet.

Man, there goes bank planets, money will be separated so much now, that players starting late will hardly ever get a chance to rise up the rankings quickly. However this will prolong games incredibly. When a game starts it will take a great more time to gain the interest for better ships.

That is one of the things we are also wanting. Longer games. Plus we want to get rid of the "Big Player build safe area tosses cash on planet in safe area with no dignitaries and no colonists leaves for over a week and comes back with tons of cash.". Small or just starting players can't do that as the interest is so low but players with quad/quintillions of cash can do it and make craploads of money even with the interest so low.

Some of the people in Megaverse were complaining that they were bored because they had so much money now. So this is one of the changes. :) They will basically stop going up in score once this is implimented unless they start building more planets and upgrading them.

When we start working on research for the game there may be ways to have more money on a planet.

I don't know if the code will be finished before we release 0.14 since it will take changing a number of programs, including the indy upgrade AI.

Plus you will not be able to consolodate all planets money on another planet. It will be consolodated to your ship.

It is alot higher. The planet can hold 100 times what it costs to get to that level.

You do NOT need a bunch of planets to upgrade one. :p The planet itself can generate and hold many times the cash needed to upgrade it.

It cost 3.5 trillion to go from level 0 to level 30 on EVERY tech level. A level 30 planet can hold 350 trillion. So a level 30 planet can provide money to INSTANTLY upgrade 10 level 0 planets to level 30.

When the new change is implimented planets with cash over the max cash limit will transfer the extra cash to your ship. You will not loose any money but your ship may become very wealthy.

Not true. Every planet will be able to hold far more money than it would take to upgrade every tech on that planet one or more levels.

I'm not trying to be difficult or argue, but I'm just not getting it.

- A lvl 39 planet can hold $350 trillion - Correct?
- The cost for an upgrade of one item from lvl 39 to 40 costs $275 trillion
- Therefore, the total cost to upgrade a planet form 39 to 40 would be (7*275) = $1,925 trillion
- Hence, in order to save $1,925 trillion, you would need to save your money on (1,925/350) = 6 planets.

If one of my assumptions (as we know what happens when you assume) are wrong, please let me know!

Better change the 9 to a 0. Thats a level 30 planet.

Let make this easier. If you spend 1 trill to build a planet, all levels combined not avgs. Then you can hold 100 tril on that planet. To upgrade what that planet can hold spend another tril on it and you can then hold 200 tril. Its that simple. Your making this alot harder than it really is. Its about what you spend overall on the planet not about the avg tech level.
