Hi, I am running AATraders on a Windows 2003 server machine, I have PHP 4.3.4 installed, MySQL 4.0.18 and IIS 6. I have everything working except that when a new user wants to sign up if they don't have an email address at my domain the system says it failed to send the email to their address. I have checked my PHP ini and all is good in there, I can even use a simple mail( script to send out and email through PHP. If anyone has any idea's please let me know, I have tried both the CGI and Isapi versions in PHP, although I prefer the Isapi.

Thanks for the help,
Joe

DO you have a default domain set for your machine? I know if you left it localhost most mail servers will not accept it. So be sure to make sure you have a valid DNS server name for your system.

I thought about that as well, I have put in a DNS registered domain but still no go.

I don't know what else to do here.

Thanks,
Joe

Hmmm being I'm a linux guy I'm unsure where to even point you. There are a few windows servers out there. You might PM those guys and see if they have any clues.

I run Alient assault on a Windows Server and your answer is not the
dfferent versions of php. The Isapi version of php is Much Better and
the one to run.

Do you have a mail server enabled on your machine. I run Website
v3.5.19 along with Merak mail server. I also have Sendmail for windows
installed. I have No Issues sending people email. To Me a Logical guess
is your not running a mail server Or IIS6 is configured wrong. Like maybe
configured to Only send mail to a Internal domain.

Since sending mail isnt a issue for me Ive never looked at How Alien
Assault Sends mail, What it uses to do it, or configuration switchs if
there are any.

BUT WAIT

In running my phpinfo file it Shows having Both Sendmail settings and
smtp, smtp port settings. In my settings its as follows.

Sendmail_from = mailto:Admin@MyMerakMailServerAddress.com

Sendmail_path = No Value (My Sendmail.exe file is in my System path)

SMTP = Local host ( This is My Merak Mail Server )

Smtp_port = 25 ( This is My Merak Mail Server )

Sooo, that being said Depending on How/what Alien Assault uses as a
Mail server you may have to have Both a Mail Server And Sendmail for
Windows installed. Hope this helps..

I'm not sure, but I believe if you go under the pruning settings in the admin.php file, you can set the destroyed player prune to 1 day, after which the player should be removed from the game. I'm not sure if the game retains a list of email addresses used, I'd assume so, so this may not work.

Yes. The default is a 3 day wait before the game prunes your character, then you can create a new player from scratch with the same email. You can adjust this prune value to meet your own needs.

No they do not. There is a minimum of 1 day that you can set.
